Integrated Forest Operations Approval
In parts of NSW where Comprehensive Regional Assessment have been completed and Regional Forest Agreements finalised, timber harvesting operations are regulated by the terms of the Integrated Forest Operations Approval (IFOA).
The IFOA is granted under the Forestry and National Parks Estate Act and establishes strong, clear and consistent environmental regulation of native forest harvesting operations. The IFOA provides a set of rules encompassing the roles of the National Parks and Wildlife Service, Environment Protection Authority and Department of Land and Water Conservation in monitoring and regulating sustainable harvesting operations.
The Integrated Forest Operations Approval (IFOA) for three regions Upper North East (UNE), Lower North East (LNE) and Eden is contained within the following pages. The documents forming the IFOA have been saved as .pdf files.
This site also contains the GIS data layers referred to in the conditions (including the Threatened Species Licence) and maps of the data referred to in the IFOA. There are metadata statements for all data except old growth data in Eden. Additionally included are copies of the maps, which identify the wilderness areas on State Forest in UNE and LNE, that are excluded from the operation of the IFOA (Clause 4).
