Ecologically Sustainable Forest Management Plans

Draft Ecologically Sustainable Management (ESFM) Plans have been prepared for the three regions – Upper North East, Lower North East and South East (Eden).

The plans provide the planning framework for forest management for a five-year period and are the blueprint for achieving the principles of ecologically sustainable forest management in each RFA region.

The Plans include strategies to achieve objectives in 12 key areas of forest management. The strategies cover:

The plans will be on public display at State Forests head office and regional offices from mid-September to the end of October 2000.

New Native Forest Management System and Silvicultural Manuals are also on display.

Public comments on the draft ESFM plans will be taken into account in the final plans to be completed by the end of the year.
